In a shocking development, former Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) Om Prakash was found dead under mysterious circumstances at his residence in Bengaluru on Sunday. Preliminary reports suggest that the retired IPS officer was allegedly murdered, with his wife emerging as a prime suspect.
According to initial information, police have detained Om Prakash’s wife for questioning, and a case of suspected murder has been registered. His body has been sent for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Om Prakash, a 1981-batch IPS officer of the Karnataka cadre, served as the state’s DGP and IGP from 2015 until his retirement in 2017. Originally from Bihar’s Champaran, he held a Master’s degree in geology.
