
NPCI BHIM Services Limited (NBSL), which is a fully owned subsidiary of the National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI), announced the launch of UPI Circle with partial rights on the BHIM Payment App on Wednesday.
The UPI circle is available on the latest version of the new BHIM payment app (version 4.0.2) as part of the upgrade, including features such as Split Exense, Family Mode, Spand Dashboard, Multilingual Support and a newly designed user experience.
NPCI said in a statement, “It is designed to empower users by enabled to hand over the UPI transactions capabilities with complete control and complete transparency.”
What is UPI Circle?
The UPI Circle allows a primary user, UPI account holder to authorize a maximum of five secondary users to initiate UPI payment from his account. Each transaction initiated by the secondary user requires clear acceptance from the primary user via their UPI PIN on the new BHIM app. All transactions conducted by secondary users appear to the primary user in real time within the new BHIM app, ensuring transparency and monitoring.
Additionally, UPI Circle promotes financial inclusion, under which people can request payment from a reliable user without a UPI -linked bank account, which can approve transactions in real time within the new BHIM app.
Main Use Case: UPI Circle on BHIM app
– Assistance for senior citizens: Senior citizens can be authorized by a family member, which will approve each payment on their behalf. They often hesitate to be a user of digital payments and this will help them connect with reliable levels of safety.
– To empower young adults: Parents may allow children to manage their daily or educational expenses through gredible, delegated access and real-time acceptance without compromising safety.
– Safe delegation in small businesses: Business owners can enable employees to initiate payments for operational expenses such as fuel, toll or vendor payments, ensuring non -accountability without taking cash.
– Helping digitally inexperienced users: Working professionals can assist dependents or less familiar persons from the digital platform by providing payment access to real -time monitoring and approval.
How to use UPI Circle on BHIM app
1. Open the BHIM app and go to the UPI Circle section from home screen or menu.
2. Tap on 'Add' Secondary User 'and enter their UPI ID or scan their QR code.
3. Choose the delegation type as “approve each payment” (partial delegation)
4. Secondary user will receive a request. Once they accept the invitation, they can start paying using the primary user account and request their primary user to approve the payment in real time through the BHIM app.
