The much-anticipated collaboration between Allu Arjun and director Atlee has taken a major step forward with the casting of Mrunal Thakur as the leading lady. The upcoming big-budget entertainer, tentatively titled #AA22xA6, is being mounted on a massive scale by Sun Pictures and promises to be a genre-defying cinematic experience.

Mrunal Thakur to Play Allu Arjun’s Romantic Interest

According to sources close to the production, Mrunal recently underwent a look test at a Mumbai studio and has been finalized as one of the three female leads in the film. She will be romantically paired with Allu Arjun, and her character will reportedly sport a completely new look, unlike any of her previous South Indian roles. This pairing has been long awaited by fans, especially after Allu Arjun publicly praised Mrunal’s performance in Hi Nanna (2023).

The casting of Mrunal adds gravitas and freshness to the film. Having impressed audiences with her work in Telugu hits like Sita Ramam and The Family Star, Mrunal continues her strong run in South cinema with this fifth Telugu project.

Deepika Padukone & Janhvi Kapoor in Talks for Other Roles

The film will feature two more prominent female leads. Janhvi Kapoor is reportedly close to signing, while negotiations are ongoing with Deepika Padukone. If finalized, the trio of Mrunal, Janhvi, and Deepika will bring star power and versatility to the film’s ensemble.

#AA22xA6 is shaping up to be an ambitious, VFX-heavy action thriller set in a parallel universe. For the first time in his career, Allu Arjun will take on a double role, pushing his boundaries as a performer. With top-tier visual effects teams from Los Angeles onboard, the film aims to deliver a cinematic experience like never before in Indian cinema.

Production Plans and Mrunal’s Rising Career

While pre-production is currently underway, filming is expected to begin between August and September 2025. Director Atlee described the film as “mass at its core and magical in its storytelling,” promising a global appeal.
