PTC Web Desk: Karnataka Housing and Minorities Welfare Minister BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan stirred political controversy on Friday after making an emotionally charged statement in response to the recent terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam. While addressing the media, the minister said he was ready to become a "suicide bomber" and personally launch an attack against Pakistan, prompting strong reactions from political leaders and the public.
“Pakistan has always acted against India's interests,” Khan said, visibly emotional. “If Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah permit me, I am ready to carry a bomb and attack Pakistan myself.” Though many in the room laughed initially, Khan clarified, “I am not joking. I am completely serious. I will sacrifice my life for the nation.”
The minister’s comments came shortly after he condemned the April 22 terror attack in Baisaran Valley near Pahalgam, where gunmen targeted a group of tourists, killing at least 26 and injuring over 20. Khan called the incident a “barbaric and inhuman act,” demanding strong national security measures and unity against terrorism.
However, Khan's aggressive rhetoric contrasted sharply with the position of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who urged for calm and diplomacy. “War is not the answer,” the Chief Minister stated. “A measured, wise response is essential to safeguard national interest and prevent further bloodshed.”
The Pahalgam attack has intensified tensions between India and Pakistan, leading to renewed diplomatic confrontations and limited military activity along the border.
