
Seizure of Kendu Leaves in Jajpur
Jajpur: The Odisha Vigilance Forest Wing successfully intercepted a vehicle transporting 14.80 quintals of kendu leaves near Sukinda in Jajpur district on Friday. The total estimated worth of the vehicle and the leaves is around Rs 11.94 lakh. Authorities arrested the driver, Prashanta Mirdha from Godimunda village, along with his assistant, Papuna Pradhan from Mankadchua village, both of whom are associated with the Handapa police station in Angul district, and they were subsequently presented in court.
A formal case (1/2025) has been initiated at the Sukinda forest range. Reports indicate that the Cuttack forest division had received reliable intelligence regarding the illegal transportation of kendu leaves to another state. In response to this information, a vigilance operation was executed with the support of the Sukinda range officer.
