New Delhi. Amid growing military wrangling between India and Pakistan, Pakistan on Saturday claimed that India has carried out missile attacks on its three major air force bases. Pakistan Army spokesman Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif said that Noor Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi, Murid Airbase in Chakwal and Rafiqui Airbase in Jhang were targeted by India. In response to these attacks, Pakistan tried to attack Indian bases with Fatah-II missile, but it was shot down. This missile was successfully intercepted and deactivated in Sirsa, Haryana.

Let us tell you that Fatah-2 is a guided rocket system which was inducted into the army by Pakistan after testing in December 2021. It is an advanced version of Fatah-1.

Range: 250–400 km

Firepower: Conventional Munitions

Guidance: inertial and satellite navigation, terminal guidance in the final stage

Accuracy : CEP (Circular Error Probable) < 10 meters

Launch Platform: Mobile Launcher

Where does Fatah-2 stand in comparison to India?

The missiles developed by India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) are technologically far more lethal than the Fatah-II.

Pinaka MBRL: Its range is 75 km. It is a guided rocket. It is capable of fast firing.

Pralay SRBM: Its range is 150–500 km. It strikes with precision.

BrahMos: Its range is 290–450 km. It is a supersonic cruise, multi-platform missile. It is capable of carrying out land, sea level and air attacks.

Agni Series: Its range is 700–5000+ km. This missile can also launch nuclear bombs.

Let us tell you that tensions between the two neighbouring countries have escalated after the Indian armed forces carried out precise strikes targeting terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) late on Tuesday night in response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22.

Pakistan on Friday carried out drone attacks on 26 locations from Jammu and Kashmir to Gujarat for the second consecutive night and the Defence Ministry said enemy attacks on vital installations, including airports and airbases, were foiled.

This latest attack by Pakistan came a day after India foiled attempts by the Pakistan Army to attack Indian military installations using drones and missiles.
