Ccpa notice: Amidst the status of India-Pakistan War, the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has issued notice to 13 e-commerce companies like Amazon, Flipkart on their platforms about illegal sales of walkie-talkie devices on their platforms.

CCPA said that notices have been sent to 13 major digital marketplace against illegal listing and sale of walkie-talkie equipment.

These platforms include Amazon, Flipkart, Meesho, OLX, Trade India, Facebook, Indiyamart, Verdnamart, Jiomart, Krishnamart, Chimia, Talkpro Walkie Talkie and MAN TOY.

This action focuses on the sale of those walkie-talkie devices, which do not have proper frequency disclosures, licensing information and equipment type approval (ETA). This is a violation of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.

What did Union Minister Prahlad Joshi say? (CCPA Notice to Amazon and Flipkart)

Union Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi said in a social media post, “Sales of non-non-non-compliance not only violates statutory obligations, but it can also pose a risk for national security campaigns.”

CCPA will issue guidelines under Consumer Protection Act (CCPA Notice)

Prahlad Joshi said that such sales are violated to many legal provisions including Consumer Protection Act, Telegraph Act and Wireless Telegraphs Act.

He said that the CCPA will issue formal guidelines under Section 18 (2) (L) of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, which aims to compliance in digital marketplaces and strengthen consumer protection measures.

Prahlad Joshi also said that strict adherence to all concerned regulatory standards will be ensured to prevent consumer rights security and illegal trade practices.
