
World World: China has bought an estimated 4–5 million metric tonnes of wheat from Australia and Canada in recent weeks. This step was taken when crops are expected to be affected due to rising temperatures in the major agricultural areas of the country. Henan province, which contributes about one -third of China’s total wheat production, has issued a warning over the hot and dry weather.
According to media-physical sources, China has bought wheat from Australia and about 2 lakh tonnes of wheat from Canada in several consignments from Australia for July-August. This purchase has been done for the first time after the previous year.
Also, China has also purchased large amounts of barley from Ukraine, with six ships from 3.6 lakh tonnes to 1 million tonnes.
