In a rarest of the rarest moments seen on the cricket field, UAE Women have pulled off a strategic masterclass of the highest order and have registered a huge win in a way that has never been seen before and is highly unlikely to be seen ever after.

UAE Women faced Qatar Women in Match 6 of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Asia Region held in Bangkok on May 10 (Saturday). UAE Women won the toss and after electing to bat first their openers, skipper Esha Oza and her opening partner Theertha Satish, put up a mammoth 192-run stand in just 16 overs. On the way to this score, the skipper Esha Oza went on to complete her third international century for UAE and was batting on 113* off 55 while Theertha Satish was unbeaten on 74* off 42.

A tactical masterclass - all the batters retire out

With some weather around and rains forecasted, the UAE thinktank pulled off something unthinkable. Since declaring is not allowed in T20Is, the opening pair first walked off retiring themselves out. Then, a different pair came in only to showcase that they are retiring themselves out which followed until 10 batters of UAE Women were retired out and their innings effectively ended on 192 after 16 overs itself.

Defending 193, UAE bowled out Qatar Women for a paltry score of 29 runs in only 11.1 overs thus registering a thumping 164-run win. Only three batters in the Qatar innings opened their accounts with opener Rizpha Bano Emmanuel top-scoring with 20 runs. As many as seven Qatar batters were dismissed on a duck to go with eight of the UAE batters which had got retired out on a duck taking the tally of the number of ducks in the match to 15 which is a record in Women's T20 well clear of the previous most of 9 ducks between Rwanda Women and Mali Women back in 2019.
