The 'best show of the year' is confirmed to be coming back for a second season after an impressive debut.

Seemingly taking over the title from Severance for the best show available on Apple, The Studio has been greenlit for more episodes.

This news comes even before the first series has concluded its run.

It is a collaborative creation by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, along with Peter Huyck, Alex Gregory and Frida Perez. Goldberg and Rogen also wear the hats of co-directors and co-writers for the series.

Rogen takes on the role of Matt Remick, the newly appointed head of the struggling Continental Studios.

As the film industry fights to stay relevant, Matt and his team of quarrelling executives grapple with their insecurities while dealing with self-absorbed artists and ruthless corporate bosses in their quest to produce outstanding films.

Donning power suits to hide their constant panic, every party, set visit, casting decision, marketing meeting and award show could lead them to dazzling success or career-ruining disaster. For Matt, a man who lives and breathes movies, it's the job he's always wanted, but it might just be his undoing.

The Studio features a star-studded cast including Catherine O'Hara, Kathryn Hahn, Ike Barinholtz and Chase Sui Wonders. Even the guest stars are some of the most recognisable faces in the industry, with Bryan Cranston making a memorable appearance, reports the .

The latest season of the show boasts an array of high-profile cameos, featuring some of Hollywood's most legendary actors, directors, and producers. Viewers can expect to see Severance star Adam Scott, iconic filmmakers Martin Scorsese and Ron Howard, among others.

In light of the show's renewal, creators Goldberg and Rogen humorously stated: "We're thrilled to be making a second season of The Studio. We're looking forward to taking the lived experience of making season one and immediately putting it into season two, then repeating that loop for ten more seasons. And, we're excited to keep all our industry friends and colleagues guessing as to when one of their personal stories will stream on Apple TV+."

The Studio has quickly become a fan and critic favourite, boasting an impressive 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It's been hailed as one of the standout new series of the year.

A critic raved: "Just watched The Studio and it's somehow even better than the hype suggests. Can't remember the last time I watched such a perfectly formed premiere with such a strong sense of identity. It is f***ing hilarious and incredibly smart. You're not ready for Kathryn Hahn in this."
