For television actress Ashita Dhawan , every day is Mother’s Day. Known for her roles in popular shows like Sapna Babul Ka Bidaai, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Imlie, Krishna Mohini, Mera Balam Thanedaar, and currently Prem Leela, Ashita shares a beautiful and heartfelt bond with her mother — one that defines her daily routine and life outlook.

"My day actually begins with calling my mother, and the last call I make every day is also to her," Ashita reveals. “I describe my mother through a song: ‘Tu hai aasmaan main, teri yeh zamin hai...’ That’s exactly how I feel about her. Everyone believes their mom is the best, but I genuinely feel mine is the best of all. She’s loving, giving, forgiving, and so talented. Words aren’t enough to express what she means to me.”

Ashita believes motherhood itself deserves constant celebration. “Being a mother is a full-time, thankless job — you don’t get paid, acknowledged, or even thanked for it. I make it a point to thank my mom often. She completes me, and she's constantly working. There’s so much I’ve learnt from her.”

While her mother isn’t formally educated, Ashita considers her one of the wisest women she knows. “She knows everything — she’s like my daily news update. One life lesson I’ve learnt from her is to always be kind and forgiving. Even when I question her about forgiving too easily, I realise I’ve inherited that quality too.”

Ashita also credits her mother for her cooking skills. “All the cooking I do today is what I’ve learnt from my mom — but only after marriage! Before that, she never let me lift a finger at home. Now, all the dishes in my house are made from her recipes. And nothing beats her Sindhi curry — it’s my kids’ favourite too, and no one else in the world can make it like she does.”

In a world that often overlooks the everyday strength of mothers, Ashita’s deep affection and admiration for her mom stand as a powerful reminder of the love and gratitude we owe the women who shape our lives.
