The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has instructed all players and support staff, including both Indian and foreign nationals, to return home. After suspending the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 for one week, the BCCI has decided that sending everyone involved back home is the most appropriate step for now. The board is also ensuring the safety of players, staff and fans by facilitating the return of Indians and foreign players to their respective homes.
All players to return home after the IPL suspension
The BCCI has assured that all foreign and Indian players along with support staff will be returning to their respective cities, with logistical support being provided for their travel. Depending on future decisions, a call will be made regarding their return to the league. For now, they are all set to head back home.
An IPL official in a statement to the Times of India said: “All the players and support staff will be returning to their respective places , with logistical support being provided for their travel. Depending on future decisions, a call will be made regarding their return to the league. For now, they are all set to head back home.”
16 games still left in the IPL 2025
The BCCI suspended IPL 2025 due to rising military tensions between India and Pakistan, following a terror attack in Pahalgam and India’s launch of Operation Sindoor. The decision, announced on May 9, disruptions forced the cancellation of a match in Dharamsala. With 58 out of 70 league matches completed, 16 games – including the playoffs – are still left to be played. The BCCI intends to resume the tournament after a week, but reschedule will be depending on government approval with safety and national interest as top priorities.
