Varun Dhawan is busy shooting for 'Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai' alongside Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde. He also has several upcoming films, including 'Border 2' . As per recent reports, Varun is likely to play the role of Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya , a Param Vir Chakra awardee, in 'Border 2'. However, the official confirmation is yet to be made.

Varun Dhawan to Play War Hero in Border 2

According to a report by Midday, Varun Dhawan is expected to portray Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya in the upcoming film Border 2. Major Dahiya was awarded the Param Vir Chakra for his bravery during the 1971 Indo-Pak war and was later promoted to Colonel in 1976.

The report further mentioned, “Apart from holding look sessions with designer Sheetal Sharma, Varun met Indian officers, celebrated Army Day with them and [in conversations] tried to gain a deeper understanding of their lives. Varun’s scenes will begin with his departure from Sisana village in Haryana, joining the army, to his journey in the Indo-Pak war."

The 'Jaat' recently shared a video from the 'Border 2' shoot, revealing that filming had to be paused due to rain. Instead of getting upset, the actor made the most of the break by enjoying hot tea and delicious pakodas. He also mentioned that while the producers were a bit worried about the delay, he assured them he would stay and complete the shoot no matter what.

'Border 2' was officially announced in June last year and will see Sunny Deol reprising his iconic role from JP Dutta’s 1997 war classic 'Border'.

Star-Studded Cast and Crew
The upcoming sequel also stars Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty. Directed by Anurag Singh, the film is being produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta.

Release Date Set
'Border 2' is scheduled to hit theatres on January 23, 2026.
