Read, Digital Desk : Bollywood actor Harshvardhan Rane has decided not to take part in Sanam Teri Kasam Part 2 if the former cast is included. This decision comes after his co-star Mawra Hocane resurfaced her anti-India post during the time heightened India-Pakistan tensions.

Rane announced this on his Instagram Stories on May 10, saying, “While I am thankful for the opportunity, as things stand and after reading the direct comments about my country, I have the right to respectfully walk away from Sanam Teri Kasam Part 2, as long as there is a possibility of previous cast being retained.”

Mawra Hocane triggered backlash with a post on X on May 7, where she condemned India military operation, saying: “Strongly condemn india’s cowardly attack on pakistan. For no valid reason, innocents have lost their life. Ya Allah balighaq ya la ila hayya ya len coude da.”

This was in reaction to Operation Sindoor that India launched on May 7 after the April 22 Pahalgam terrorist attack. The operation consisted of 24 precision strikes across nine locations in Pakistan and Pakistani occupied Kashmir.

Online Users Commend Harshavardhan Rane’s Bold Patriotic Declaration

Harshavardhan Rane received wide support on social media after he made his comments. His decision was applauded by users on X and Reddit. “Looks like we still have someone with spine in Bollywood. More power to you,” remarked one user.

Another user highlighted the consequences his decision could have: “He deserves respect. He will refuse to work if the same actress is taken for casting again.”

Some of them demanded an equally harsh judgement from the influencers towards some other parameters: “Ppl questioning him should question the producer and director as to why they are so inclined to repeat the cast.”

One comment read: “It needs guts to do this!! Proud of him… Jay Hind.”

From An Initial Disaster Box-Office To A Re-Release Triumph

Sanam Teri Kasam, released on February 5 2016, was directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru and served as both Harshavardhan Rane’s and Mawra Hocane’s debut bollywood film. The film did not do well at first but after it was re-released on 7 February 2025, it earned over ₹50 crore.

The film’s producers were Deepak Mukut and Sapru, which enhanced its popularity immensely and this popularity started setting the stage for it to have a sequel.
