With a history of over 150 bazaars, the Dastkari Haat Samiti has been a crucial player in securing the market for Indian artisans. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the organisation has continuously strived to promote Indian crafts, introducing calligraphy into crafts, documenting 52 crafts for the Google Arts & Culture site, and conducting annual craft exchange workshops with international craftspeople.
The bazaar will feature 170 stalls showcasing a diverse array of crafts, including weaves, hand block prints, embroideries, traditional arts, crafts from grass, bamboo, metal, wood, jewellery, stationery, ceramics, terracotta, and tribal art forms like Gond, Kalighat, Phads, and Pattachitra.
Artisans from 22 states, including 65 national and state awardees, will participate, offering 45 live demonstrations. Visitors can witness remarkable skills in crafts such as Sanjhi Craft, Madhubani Painting, Pattachitra Painting, and Gond Painting. Live demonstrations will include unique crafts like Leaf Printing on textiles from Gujarat, Lehariya from Rajasthan, and Jute products from Maharashtra.
Enriching the cultural experience, the bazaar will host captivating performances, including Rajasthani folk music, Kalbelia dance from Barmer, Rajasthan, and Chaau Dancers from West Bengal. Additionally, a groundbreaking workshop will debut, merging Graphic Design with Traditional Art Forms, aiming to create a fusion of contemporary visual design with traditional artistry.
