'Embarrassed': Man Utd's Ruben Amorim Hints At Shocking Exit

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has hinted at a shock exit from the club if the 'culture in the team' does not change before the start of the next season.

The Red Devils recorded their 17th league defeat this season in Sunday, their most in a single season since 1973/74 (the season where they suffered a historic relegation from top flight division).

After their 2-0 defeat to West Ham United, Manchester United are now languishing at 16th in the points table, one point ahead of Tottenham Hotspurs, who also suffered a 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Tottenham Hotspurs recorded their 20th league defeat of the season, the most they have ever suffered in the Premier League Era.

"I don't want to talk about players. I'm talking about myself and the culture in the club and the culture in the team. I have that feeling, we need to change that and we need to be really strong in the summer and to be brave because we will not have a next season like this. If we start like this, or if the feeling is still here, we should give the space to different persons," said Ruben Amorim, as reported by FotMob.

"For me the biggest concern is that feeling that 'it's OK', and 'we cannot change our position so much so it's OK'. That is the biggest problem in our club in this moment because we are losing the feeling of we are a massive club and it's the end of the world to lose a game at home. I think that is the biggest concern in our club," he added.

'Not Thinking About the Europa League Final': Ruben Amorim

Ironically, amongst all the best mid-placed teams in Europe, it is the 16th placed Manchester United who will face a 17th placed Tottenham Hotspurs in the Final of the UEFA Europa League 2024/25.

Both teams have been awful in the league this season, with Manchester United on the verge of recording their worst-ever campaign in terms of points since 1930/31.

Speaking ahead of the fixture, Ruben Amorim emphasised on the importance of performing well in the Premier League, and that he's not thinking about the Europa League Final.

"How a manager of Manchester United is supposed to feel in that position - embarrassed, and it's hard to accept. I think everybody has to think seriously about a lot of things here."

"Everybody is thinking about the final. The final is not an issue in this moment in our club. We have bigger things to think and we have to change a lot of things in the end of the season."

"Playing Premier League and Champions League for us is the moon. I'm not concerned about the final. They [the players] will be focused and I don't know what is best, if it's playing Champions League or not."
