The International Cricket Council (ICC) have handed a fine to Scotland's Matthew Cross and Mark Watt, as the duo breached the Code of Conduct during their Cricket World Cup League 2 match vs Netherlands at VRA Cricket Amsterdam in Amsterdam.

As informed by ICC, the Scottish duo have breached the Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct, and will therefore be fined 10% of their match fee.

"Scotland wicketkeeper-batter Matthew Cross and spinner Mark Watt have been fined 10 percent of their match fee for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct for separate instances during their recent League 2 outing against Netherlands. The pair have been found guilty of breaching Article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to "showing dissent at an Umpire’s decision during an International Match." In addition to the fine, one demerit point has been added to the disciplinary records of both Cross and Watt. The players do not have any previous offences in the preceding 24-month period," read the statement of ICC.

Riwan Akram and Roland Black (on-field umpires), and Nitin Bathi (reserve umpire) were the officials of the match who imposed the charges on the players.

Mark Watt showed dissent on-field by throwing his cap on the group, whilst appealing for a decision against Netherlands skipper Scott Edwards in the first innings of the match.

Matthew Cross, on the other hand, was fined for his dissent in the 2nd innings, as his wicket proved to be a crucial moment in the game. When deemed out via an LBW decision off Roelof van der Merwe's bowling, the Scottish batter stayed on the pitch to express his disagreement with the umpire's decision and delayed his departure.

Netherlands continued their impressive run in CWC League 2, by defeating Scotland by 19 runs to strengthen their grip on top of the table. The result marked Scotland's 5th defeat of the campaign, as they are now languishing at 5th in the points table.
