Bollywood heartthrob Ajay Devgn and his son Yug Devgn will join forces for the first time on a special film project. The father-and-son team is providing their voiceover for the Hindi-dubbed version of the new Hollywood movie Karate Kid Legends, a highly awaited sequel to the world-renowned Karate Kid series. The movie is scheduled for release throughout India on May 30, 2025, in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
Ajay Devgn has lent his voice to the character of Mr. Han, who was originally played by martial arts legend Jackie Chan, in this movie. Yug Devgn debuts as a voice artist by lending his voice to the hero role of Li Fong, who was originally played by Ben Wang. It is Ajay Devgn’s first-ever voice-over for an overseas movie, while Yug makes his formal debut in the industry.
The plot of Karate Kid Legends centers on Li Fong, a young kung fu fan who relocates to New York City and enrolls in a new school. Feeling out of place, he experiences cultural and personal setbacks and soon finds himself in a bitter karate rivalry with a local champion. As tension mounts, Li Fong receives wisdom and tutelage from Mr. Han and the returning hero Daniel LaRusso, played by Ralph Macchio.
The central theme of the movie illustrates the unique teacher-student connection, which gets perfectly reflected in life by Ajay and Yug Devgn’s genuine rapport. Their effortless father-son compatibility lends depth to the characters that they dub for, making an impact on the narrative.
The film transcends pure action and martial arts. It ventures into self-improvement, strength, bravery, and the value of mentoring. The Li Fong character progresses in the film as he learns to surmount challenges, develop self-reflection, and cultivate the discipline needed to thrive not only in martial arts but in life.
What makes this movie so special is the way it unites generations. For the older generation of fans of the Karate Kid franchise, it is a nostalgic treat, but for the younger generation, it brings new faces and a contemporary presentation of the series’ age-old lessons.
The fact that the movie is set in New York contributes to the East-West cultural blend, and the multicultural cast contributes a universal flavor to the story. With acceptance, self-discovery, and perseverance as themes, Karate Kid Legends seeks to motivate audiences of all races.
Ajay Devgn’s involvement provides starpower, and Yug Devgn’s debut has already caused a buzz with fans and the media as well. The venture is destined to resonate a deep emotional appeal with viewers with its engaging balance of action, emotion, and lessons in life. As release date nears, anticipation abounds for this tear-jerking cinematic expedition.
