Summertime skin care regimen

Sunspots, uneven skin tone, breakouts, and tanning may result from the excessive sunshine, humidity, and heat. Thus, maintaining healthy, radiant skin during the summer requires adhering to an appropriate skincare regimen.

Our skin’s behavior also changes in the summer. Remember that less is more, whether you’re going for a more minimalist look or adopting lightweight skincare. Sun protection, hydration, and thorough washing to prevent blocked pores should be the main goals of a smart summer skincare regimen.

To help your skin withstand the summer heat, try this easy but efficient routine:

Hydrating cleanser

Summertime heat and humidity can cause excessive oil production. To soothe the skin and combat germs, choose a gentle, sulfate-free cleanser that contains calming ingredients like chamomile, aloe vera, neem, or tea tree oil.

Wash your face in the morning and at night. Consider double washing at night if you use sunscreen or makeup. Use an oil-based cleanser to dissolve the product, then a mild water-based cleanser to get rid of any leftover residue.

Keep your eyes safe.

Even on overcast days, wear sunglasses with 100% UV protection to protect your eyes from harmful UV radiation. This is because UV rays may pass through clouds and haze.

Pain, redness, blurriness, and even temporary blindness may result from prolonged exposure to UV light. Select sunglasses with well-fitting, curved frames that are neither too large nor too tiny. Even reasonably priced sunglasses may provide good UV protection, despite what many people think.

Additionally, to protect yourself from direct UV radiation, wear a hat with a brim of at least 3 inches. Staying hydrated is essential to avoiding dry eyes in the summer since dehydration may lower the moisture content of your eyes.

Keep your lips safe.

Lips are just as susceptible to UV damage as your skin, although they are often ignored. After eating or drinking, use a moisturizing lip balm with an SPF of 30 or higher every two hours.

Make sure to cover the corners of your lips while applying it to clean lips. Apply lip balm 20 to 25 minutes before you go outdoors for optimal effects. Select hydrating and brightening balms. Lip balms with an SPF of 30 can block up to 97% of UVB radiation.

Treat sunburned lips the same way you would sunburned skin: use aloe vera gel, apply cold compresses, or take anti-inflammatory medications to reduce pain.

Steer clear of hot showers.

Despite their calming effects, hot baths may exacerbate dehydration and, in severe situations, cause heat exhaustion or heat stroke. Additionally, dehydration thickens blood, raising the possibility of dangerous conditions like pulmonary embolism.

To feel refreshed and reduce body warmth, try chilly showers instead. Showers should last no more than 10 to 15 minutes to prevent depleting your skin’s natural oils.

To keep skin hydrated throughout the warmer season, choose a moisturizing soap that has natural components like glycerin, coconut oil, or aloe vera.
