Washington, DC: President Donald Trump emphasized that the aircraft would be used temporarily until the new Boeing jets arrive, underlining the cost savings of hundreds of millions of dollars, in response to allegations that Qatar had gifted the US a luxurious Boeing 747-8.

Trump defended his choice by highlighting that he would save hundreds of millions of dollars by accepting the gift, money that would then be used to “Make America Great Again.”
“It would be foolish not to accept this gift on behalf of Qatar,” Trump said.

“The United States Air Force/Department of Defense is receiving the Boeing 747, not me!” Trump shared a message on the social networking site Truth Social. It comes as a gift from Qatar, a country we have successfully protected for a long time. Our government will utilize it as a stand-in for Air Force One until our new Boeings, which are arriving later than expected, arrive.

“When our soldiers can get it for free from a nation that wants to honor us for a job well done, why should our taxpayers and military personnel be required to spend hundreds of millions of dollars? Instead, we will use these significant savings to restore America’s greatness! On behalf of our nation, only an idiot would decline this offer. I appreciate your consideration of this issue,” the message said.

The Hill reports that the jet, a gift from Qatar’s royal family to the US, has an estimated value of $400 million USD. Trump had previously said that only a “stupid person” would refuse the present.

“The fact that the Defense Department is receiving a gift, free of charge, of a 747 aircraft to temporarily replace the 40-year-old Air Force One in a very public and transparent transaction so bothers the Crooked Democrats that they insist we pay top dollar for the plane,” Trump stated earlier on Truth Social on Monday. The legal technicalities of the receipt of a Boeing 747-8 airplane as a gift from the Qatari royal family to serve as Air Force One were being finalized, according to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt on Monday. Any gift to the government would be made in complete accordance with the law, Leavitt said. She said, “Any donation to this government is always done in full compliance with the law,” according to CNN.
