A wedding ceremony in Umaria village, Basti, Uttar Pradesh, took an unexpected turn when the police arrived just as the groom was about to place the garland on the bride. What was meant to be a joyous occasion turned into a shocking revelation for everyone involved, as the groom’s secret came to light.
The groom, identified as Raja, had been preparing for his second wedding, but unbeknownst to the bride, he was already married with a wife and an 8-year-old child. Just as the bride and groom were about to exchange garlands during the jaimala ceremony, a voice interrupted: “Stop the wedding.” The guests were stunned as a police team stood before them, revealing that the groom had a prior marriage and was going to marry again without informing anyone.
The bride was left speechless, with the garland falling from her hands in disbelief. The police confirmed that Raja had been living with his first wife and child, which was kept hidden from the bride’s family. The revelation shocked not only the bride but also the entire wedding party.
The police's intervention followed a complaint from the groom's first wife, who had alerted the authorities. However, the bride’s family expressed outrage over the situation, claiming they had been misled. They were told the groom was a bachelor when the marriage was arranged. As the wedding preparations had already been made, the news came as a devastating betrayal.
But the situation didn’t end there. The police, after stopping the wedding, took several members of the bride’s family—including the village head and a ration dealer—into custody and brought them to the police station. The bride’s family accused the police of extortion, alleging that some officers took money and forcibly took them to the station. The bride’s family is now voicing strong objections to the police's handling of the case.
Despite the anger from the bride’s side, the police have suggested that a reconciliation between the two families will take place, and they plan to resolve the matter amicably. However, many villagers are questioning why the groom hasn’t faced any legal consequences for his actions and why the bride's family was treated this way. The incident has left the bride's side deeply hurt and in shock over the deceitful actions of the groom.
