Atishi Questions Modi's Ceasefire Decision
Atishi, the leader of the opposition in the Delhi Assembly and a senior member of the Aam Aadmi Party, has raised pointed questions regarding the Modi government's acceptance of a ceasefire with Pakistan before seeking retribution for the brutal terrorist attack in Pahalgam. Directly targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Atishi accused the government of capitulating to American intervention at a time when the Indian military was poised to deliver a decisive blow against terrorists and their backers.
Atishi questioned, "Have we avenged the 'sindoor' of our sisters and daughters, or is trade with America deemed more valuable than their sacrifices?" She also inquired why the ceasefire was announced by Washington rather than New Delhi, and why Pakistan has yet to hand over the perpetrators of the Pahalgam attack. During a digital press conference, Atishi stated, "On April 22, a cowardly terrorist attack occurred in Pahalgam, targeting unarmed tourists. The entire nation witnessed the tears of our sisters and daughters, and justice was demanded for them."
She continued, "When the Indian Army launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, the entire country stood united with our forces. The Indian armed forces demonstrated their strength by attacking terrorist camps located in Pakistan." Atishi sharply criticized PM Modi for failing to address these critical national issues, stating, "Yesterday, Prime Minister Modi engaged in a one-sided dialogue with the nation. He claimed that Pakistan had folded its hands and that he felt pity for them, which led to the agreement on the ceasefire. However, his statements raised more questions than they answered, and the entire country is eager to know the truth."
In response to Atishi's remarks regarding the India-Pakistan agreement, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta commented, "It's easy to say anything while watching TV in an air-conditioned room... Only those who are responsible for caring for 1.4 billion people can make the right decisions. No one has the right to question the military..."
