World World: Japan’s leading automobile company Honda Motor has predicted a decline in 59% profit for the upcoming financial year 2026. The company says that it is facing financial challenges due to the increasing pressure of tariffs and Chinese EV manufacturers implemented by US President Donald Trump. Honda estimated 500 billion yen ($ 3.38 billion) operating income for the financial year 2026, compared to 1.21 trillion yen last year.
Additionally, Honda has decided to postpone its plan, under which the company announced to create an EV supply chain in Ontario, Canada in April 2024. The company says that the scheme has been postponed for almost two years in view of the recession in EV’s demand.
