Sachin Tendulkar Career Overview

Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar made his national team debut at the age of 16 against Pakistan in Karachi in 1989. The youngster impressed against some of the greatest pacers of the time. For much of the 90s, despite being in his early 20s, the Master Blaster was considered the best batsman in the world and the ambassador of global cricket. Even at that point, comparisons to the great Sir Don Bradman were common.

As the 2000s came and Sachin entered the second decade of his international career, the legendary batter didn’t slow down. In fact, despite injuries and politics surrounding Indian cricket, the God of Cricket stood firm as the best batsman in the world.

However, one accolade never graced Tendulkar: the ICC Cricket World Cup. So when he entered his sixth World Cup in 2011, that too at home, he became the second-highest run scorer in the competition at the age of 37 as India won the World Cup.

Sachin Tendulkar became the first batter to score 200 runs in an inning in an ODI. He played his last ODI in 2012 after scoring 49 centuries and scored 51 hundreds in Test cricket, becoming the first and so far only batter to have scored 100 centuries in international cricket.

In his 24-year-long international career, which ended in 2013 with his 200th Test match, Sachin made 32,357 runs across formats, scoring 100 hundreds, and scored a staggering 164 half-centuries.
