Pakistani actress and TV host Javeria Saud has come under fire on social media after praising her mother as the “best mother-in-law” during a Mother’s Day appearance on a morning show.

During the show, which aired on a private TV channel, Javeria appeared with her mother and shared anecdotes about their close relationship. She described her mother as a “cool mother-in-law” and recounted a recent visit to Hyderabad, saying she admired her sisters-in-law for living with her mother.

However, her mother responded on-air by saying the daughters-in-law actually keep to themselves: “They cook their food and go upstairs. If they lived downstairs with me, it would be difficult.”

Javeria then recalled asking her mother why her sisters-in-law were still asleep at noon. Her mother explained, “Just like I wouldn’t wake you up, I don’t wake them either. It’s their day off—let them sleep.”

The clip from the show quickly went viral on social media, sparking mixed reactions. Many users criticized Javeria for allegedly mocking her sisters-in-law and for intruding into her parental home dynamics while disguising it with laughter.

One comment read, “Every daughter sees her mother as a cool mother-in-law, but only a daughter-in-law can truly describe what she’s like.” Another user commented that Javeria was “comfortably criticizing her sisters-in-law on live TV.”

The backlash highlighted the sensitivity around in-law relationships and the importance of respectful boundaries, even in casual storytelling on public platforms.
