The Indian tourists have been cancelling the trips to Turkey and Azerbaijan in large number after the recent statements from both the countries backing Pakistan after the military action of India across the Line of Control. The online travel platforms have witnessed a significant fall in bookings and also a wave of cancellation to the two destinations for the past two weeks.

“Indian travellers have expressed strong sentiments over the past one week, with bookings for Azerbaijan and Turkey decreasing by 60%, while cancellations have surged by 250% during the same period,” said a spokesperson for MakeMyTrip.

The platform also said that it has pulled down all the offers and promotions for both the countries.

“In solidarity with our nation and out of deep respect for our armed forces, we strongly support this sentiment and advise against all non-essential travel to Azerbaijan and Turkey,” the company said.

EaseMyTrip founder has also echoed smilier sentiment amid the ongoing development.

“Travel is a powerful tool. Let’s not use it to empower those who don’t stand with us,” said Nishant Pittie, founder and chairman of EaseMyTrip.

The ties between India and Pakistan nosedived after a deadly attack in Jammu-Kashmir's Pahalgam last month that killed  a total of 26 people, mostly tourists. Pakistan denied involvement, but the intense fighting broke out when India struck what it said were "terrorist camps" in Pakistan last week. Both the countries agreed a ceasefire on Saturday which has largely held.
