As farmers across the country eagerly await the 20th installment of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, the government has made it clear: unless you complete a few essential steps, the ₹2,000 installment will not be transferred to your bank account. To avoid any delays or disappointments, it’s important to take action now.
The PM-Kisan Yojana provides financial support of ₹6,000 annually to eligible farmer families in three equal installments. The 19th installment was released in February this year by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the 20th installment is expected by June 20, 2025. However, the Central Government has now mandated specific eligibility steps to ensure that only genuine and verified farmers receive the benefit.
If you’re a registered beneficiary or planning to enroll, these three steps are critical for uninterrupted payments under the scheme:
1. Complete Farmer Registration Immediately
If you haven’t registered as a farmer yet, your PM-Kisan payments will be withheld. Despite the widespread reach of the scheme, many farmers in India are still unregistered. For example, Maharashtra alone has over 71 lakh unregistered farmers, while Uttar Pradesh has around 2.62 lakh pending registrations out of 5 lakh total.
The good news? The process is quick and completely online.
Here’s how to register:
-
Visit the official agriculture portal of your state.
-
For Uttar Pradesh: https://upfr.agristack.gov.in
-
-
Use your Aadhaar number to complete e-KYC.
-
Create a new User ID and Password.
-
Log in using your credentials.
-
Fill out the required farmer registration form and submit it.
Once registered, you’ll receive a unique Farmer ID, essential for receiving scheme benefits.
2. Complete e-KYC by May 31
e-KYC (Electronic Know Your Customer) is now mandatory for all PM-Kisan beneficiaries. Without it, your installment won’t be processed, regardless of your previous eligibility.
The Central Government has clearly mentioned on the official website that e-KYC is compulsory for every farmer.
To complete e-KYC online:
-
Visit: https://pmkisan.gov.in
-
Click on the ‘e-KYC’ option in the Farmer’s Corner section.
-
Enter your Aadhaar number.
-
You’ll receive an OTP on your registered mobile number.
-
Enter the OTP to complete the verification.
That’s it—your e-KYC will be updated in seconds.
Note: The deadline for e-KYC is May 31, 2025. Delay could result in missing the upcoming installment.
3. Ensure Aadhaar Seeding with Your Bank Account
Many farmers confuse Aadhaar linkage with Aadhaar seeding—but the two are different. Even if your Aadhaar is linked to multiple bank accounts, Aadhaar seeding must be done with only one account, which will be used to receive DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) payments under the PM-Kisan scheme.
What is Aadhaar Seeding?
It involves connecting your Aadhaar number with your mobile number, PAN card, and bank account. This consolidated verification is essential for receiving government benefits directly into your account.
To complete Aadhaar seeding:
-
Visit your nearest bank branch.
-
Carry your Aadhaar card, bank passbook, and mobile phone.
-
Request the Aadhaar seeding process at the customer service desk.
Once completed, your bank account becomes eligible for DBT, including PM-Kisan installments.
Final Reminder for Farmers
The government is tightening compliance to eliminate ineligible beneficiaries and ensure transparency. If you’re a genuine farmer eligible under PM-Kisan, don’t risk losing your ₹2,000 installment. Make sure you:
-
Register as a farmer online if you haven’t already.
-
Complete e-KYC before May 31, 2025.
-
Seed your Aadhaar with your bank account at the earliest.
These small but crucial steps will ensure timely and uninterrupted payments directly to your bank account under one of India’s most ambitious farmer welfare schemes.
