Twinkle Khanna, a former actress and author, posted a touching photo of her mother, daughter, and herself—three generations of women in her family—bonding over their love of art on social media.

Twinkle said in her essay about growing up in a creative environment where poetry, music, and art were all around her. She spoke about how she was influenced by this creatively chaotic atmosphere and how she can now share that delight with her kid. For many years, this family has treasured the simple act of sitting together and doing something with their hands.

Khanna considered the long-lasting impact of her family’s creative heritage. She shared a stunning video of herself, her daughter Nitara, and her mother, renowned actress Dimple Kapadia, all participating in various creative endeavors on Instagram.

“Three generations—my mother, my daughter, and me—each creating a small piece of art in our own way,” the “Mela” actress captioned the photo. This is how I grew up, surrounded by creative people. Everybody in our home was always composing poetry, knitting little dolls, and sketching. Painting “sirs” and sitar instructors were wandering in and out of the home. The mayhem was magnificent. I’m thankful that I can still share with my kid the delight of creating something with your hands while seated at a table.
