Erling Haaland, a striker for Manchester City, hopes to turn around a season that has fallen short of the team’s high expectations by winning the FA Cup. The Cityzens will play Crystal Palace in the cup competition final on May 17 at the legendary Wembley.
The players on his team have not been good enough throughout the season, according to Haaland, who has extended his contract with City until 2034. However, a victory on Saturday and the trophy would ease the pain of a lackluster season, which could also result in the team booking their spot in the UEFA Champions League next season.
“Winning trophies is always important and getting to Wembley is a good habit,” the Norwegian said.
“That says it all,” he said, “because we have the FA Cup final to play for and we still managed to do this in a terrible season.”
“After winning four consecutive league titles, a season won’t be successful if you don’t win five,” he said.
“We have established those norms. We’re still aiming to qualify for the Champions League even if we haven’t performed well enough in the league,” the 24-year-old said.
With two games remaining in the season, City is two points clear of Chelsea and Aston Villa in fourth position in the league standings with 65 points.
This season, we haven’t been steady enough. Naturally, we have had injuries all season long. However, we shouldn’t look for justifications,” the striker said.
He went on to say, “We haven’t all been good enough or at our best, so when you aren’t at your best, you won’t win games in this country because it’s so hard.”
After suffering an ankle injury in March, Norway international Haaland, who has scored 21 league goals this season, was also out for a month.
After suffering an ankle injury a few months back, Haaland, who has scored 21 goals this season, had to miss a month of action.
“Getting hurt has been terrible. Although seeing the team play is unpleasant, you must try to make the most of it and return as soon as you can,” he remarked.
“I’m so glad to be back.” “A ton of energy,” he said.
