Statewide Raids Target Corruption

The Karnataka Lokayukta launched a significant anti-corruption operation on Thursday, executing simultaneous raids across Bengaluru and other regions of the state. These actions are based on suspicions that government officials possess assets beyond their known sources of income. Authorities indicated that the raids were conducted following credible intelligence reports. According to Lokayukta police, properties linked to seven government officials were targeted in Bengaluru city, Bengaluru district, Tumakuru district, Yadgir district, Mangaluru city, and Vijayapura district.

Identified Officials Under Scrutiny

The officials under investigation include Murali TV, Additional Director of Urban and Rural Planning Directorate; H.R. Nataraj, Legal Metrology Inspector in Bengaluru; Anant Kumar, Second Division Assistant at the Hoskote Taluk Office in Bengaluru Rural; Rajshekhar, Project Director at the Nirmithi Kendra in Tumakuru; Manjunath, Survey Supervisor in Dakshina Kannada; Renuka Satarle, an officer at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Development Corporation in Vijayapura; and Umakant, an officer in Shahpur Taluk of Yadgir district.

Multiple Locations Raided

Teams from the Lokayukta are conducting raids at various locations associated with different government employees across multiple departments. The aim of this operation is to uncover illicit assets allegedly acquired by these officials beyond their legitimate earnings. Raids are taking place at 12 locations in Bengaluru, 7 in Tumakuru, 5 in Yadgir, 4 in Mangaluru, and 4 in Vijayapura. Sources indicate that a thorough investigation is underway, examining various documents, properties, and valuable items linked to these high-profile cases.

Details of Previous Raids

This operation follows a series of raids conducted by the Karnataka Lokayukta on May 8, targeting multiple locations linked to four government officials suspected of holding disproportionate assets. The Lokayukta reported that properties worth several crores, including houses, land, jewelry, vehicles, and household items, were discovered, exceeding the officials' known income sources. The raids were executed simultaneously across all identified locations, and several incriminating documents were also seized during the operation.
