Delhi Police has declared Aadhaar card, PAN card or ration card invalid for foreign citizens and suspects. For this, they will now have to show only voter ID card or passport as proof of citizenship.
Giving information, the Delhi Police officer said that this decision of citizenship authentication has been taken on the instructions of the central government. The verification going on since the year 2024 has revealed that a large number of foreign citizens are living illegally in India. Of which Bangladeshis and Rohingyas are in large numbers, who claim themselves to be Indians on Aadhaar card, PAN card or ration card. The officer said that cards issued by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) have also been found from them. In view of which, voter ID card or Indian passport has now been made mandatory.
