Traffic chaos has been sparked by a major crash that had caused a huge fuel spill. Commuters have been warned to expect delays after police closed off a section of the M6 northbound this morning. Two lanes have since reopened, yet three remain closed as emergency services attend the scene. The National Highways have said to expect queues of up to 45 minutes between J31A and J32 due to a multi-vehicle collision.
The M65 westbound was also closed between junctions three at Riley Green and junction two for the M61 overnight, following a crash which caused a major fuel spillage. An "extensive clean up" took place to clear the fuel, debris and vehicle, with the road opening shortly after 7am.
