
In relation to a digital arrest case worth over Rs 2 crore, two members of a cyber gang were taken into custody in the Moradabad district on Thursday. The offenders put the victim under digital arrest while posing as police officials, according to the Noida cybercrime division.
They said that the victim was defrauded of Rs 2.39 crores after being implicated in the human trafficking case. The Moradabad-based defendants, Anees Ahmed and Mukesh Saxena, were taken into custody on Thursday.
“The complainant filed a complaint on March 18 under the sections 308 (2), 319 (2), and 318 (4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and 66 D, IT Act,” said Preeti Yadav, DCP (Cyber Crime), Noida. “The victim has reported that the arrested accused made a digital arrest while posing as a police officer,” she said.
They said that the victim was defrauded of Rs 2.39 crores after engaging in human trafficking. She said that the accused’s bank accounts were stopped as soon as the allegation was received.
