After a seven-month hiatus, attacking opener Shafali Verma made her comeback to the Indian colors on Thursday when she was included in the national T20I squad for the five-match away series against England, which begins at Trent Bridge on June 28.
Due to her lackluster performance, Shafali was dropped from the Indian squad in October 2024. However, she was unable to get a spot in the ODI squad for the three-match series against England, which was also announced yesterday.
She scored 304 runs at a strike rate of 152 in nine games for the Delhi Capitals this season in the Women’s Premier League (WPL).
Yastika Bhatia, the wicketkeeper, was another player to return. India has selected a 15-man T20 side and a 16-man ODI squad. Harmanpreet Kaur will lead both teams, with Smriti Mandhana providing support.
