It’s the penultimate weekend of LaLiga 2024/25, and we’ve got the rare event of 10 matches kicking off at the same time on Sunday. Some of the key issues were resolved in midweek, including the title which was won by Barcelona, but there are still a number of teams fighting for survival or European places. Here are our LaLiga predicted lineups for matchday 37.
LaLiga predicted lineups – Matchday 37
Sunday 18th May 2025
19:00 – Las Palmas vs Leganes
Las Palmas were relegated in midweek after a defeat at Sevilla, combined with a victory for Alaves. Diego Martinez could make a few changes here as a result, and give minutes to some players who haven’t featured as much, but it should still be a relatively strong XI. It won’t feature Mika Marmol who is suspended, while Stefan Bajcetic is also a doubt.
Las Palmas predicted lineup: HORKAS-A. Muñoz, McKenna, A. Suarez, Rozada-Campaña, J. Muñoz, Essugo-Miller, McBurnie, Januzaj (4-3-3)
Leganes are still just about alive, although they could be relegated on Sunday even if they win this game. They need to go all out for the three points here, and Borja Jimenez has no fresh selection problems. His side weren’t as bad as the 3-0 scoreline in Villarreal’s favour suggested in midweek, but he could still make one or two changes, with Munir a fresh option in attack.
Leganes predicted lineup: Dmitrovic – J. Birth, Saint, Rosary – Swimming, Tapia, Sisse, Altimera – Munire, Raba (3-5-2)
19:00 – Real Valladolid vs alaves
Real Valladolid are also long since down and out, and they lost again in midweek against Girona. They’re missing David Torres, Javi Sanchez and Chuki to injuries here, while there are also major doubts over Joseph Aidoo and Stanko Juric. Alvaro Rubio is likely to make several changes from midweek, although he may stick with Karl Hein in goal after the Estonian was recalled against the Catalans.
Real Valladolid predicted lineup: Hein – Ozcachar, Comert, Parent – Azno, Amallah, Candela – Moro, Sylla, I. Sanchez (3-4-3)
Alaves are one win from safety after they defeated Valencia on Wednesday thanks to a penalty from Joan Jordan. They’ve an injury doubt over Moussa Diarra heading into this game, but otherwise there are no fresh issues for Chacho Coudet. He’s not likely to change much after such a key win, but Jordan is a strong candidate to rotate into the midfield.
Alaves predicted lineup: Buck -M. Sanchez, Garces, Mouriño, Tenaglia-Blanco, Jordan-Aleña, Guridi, C. Vicente-K. Garcia (4-2-3-1)
19:00 – Health vs Espanyol
Osasuna boosted their European hopes with an impressive win over Atletico Madrid on Thursday. It’s hard to see many changes from Vicente Moreno here, despite the quick turnaround, although Jon Moncayola is available again and a fresh option in midfield. At time of writing, Ruben Garcia is their only injury doubt, with Ruben Peña expected to start again on the right flank if he doesn’t recover.
Osasuna predicted lineup: Herrera-Cruz, Boyomo, Catena, Areo-Torro, Ibañez-Zaragoza, Oroz, Peña-Budimir (4-2-3-1)
Espanyol’s derby loss to Barcelona was their fourth on the bounce, and they are not safe yet heading into matchday 37. They’ll be missing Leandro Cabrera here after he saw red in the latter stages of the clash with Barca, with Fernando Calero his most likely deputy. Otherwise, Manolo Gonzalez is not likely to change too much, although we may well see Jofre Carreras rotate in for Antoniu Roca.
Espanyol predicted lineup: J. Garcia-Romero, Calero, Kumbulla, El Hilali-Gonzalez de Zarate, Lozano, Exposito-Puado, R. Fernandez, Jofre (4-3-3)
19:00 – Celta Vigo vs Rayo Vallecano
Celta won on the road at Real Sociedad in midweek, but Claudio Giraldez is still likely to continue with his rotation policy here. That could mean changes across the frontline again, with Iago Aspas, Williot Swedberg and Pablo Duran potentially coming in. Marcos Alonso is available again and should return in defence, but Carl Starfelt misses out again due to injury, while Jailson is the only other selection concern as it stands.
Celta Vigo predicted lineup: Guaita-Alonso, Lago, J. Rodriguez-Mingueza, Sotelo, D. Rodriguez, Alvarez-Swedberg, quotes-Duran (3-4-2-1)
Like their opponents, Rayo are also fighting hard for European qualification, and they picked up a decent point against Betis on Thursday, although they did throw away a two-goal lead to draw 2-2. We’re likely to see Iñigo Perez mirror his opposite number by bringing some fresh legs in for this match, although he doesn’t have as many options as the Celta boss. Unai Lopez, Oscar Valentin, Randy Nteka and Adri Embarba are all players who have a chance of coming in having only made the bench last time out.
Rayo Vallecano predicted lineup: Battle – Chavarria, A.
19:00 – Barcelona vs Villarreal
Barca got over the line and sealed the title with a 2-0 derby win at the RCDE Stadium. With the pressure off, Hansi Flick is likely to use this game to finally rest some of his key players who have played a lot of big matches over the past few weeks. Marc-Andre ter Stegen may get another opportunity in goal, while the likes of Hector Fort, Gavi, Ansu Fati, Fermin Lopez and Pau Victor are all in contention for starts. Ferran Torres and Jules Kounde are out injured, while Ronald Araujo is also a doubt.
Barcelona predicted lineup: Ter Stegen-Balde, Martinez, Cubarsi, Fort-De Jong, Gavi-Fati, Fermin, Victor-Lewandowski (4-2-3-1)
Villarreal are now just two points away from securing Champions League qualification. Marcelino is likely to recall Sergi Cardona at left-back, while Kiko Femania is fit again and could return at right-back. Pape Gueye could also be preferred to Dani Parejo in midfield for this fixture, but the frontline may remain the same, with Thierno Barry still rated doubtful.
Villarreal predicted lineup: Junior-Cardona, Costa, Foyth, Femenia-Baena, Gueye, Comesaña, Pino-A. Perez, Pepe (4-4-2)
19:00 – Real Sociedad vs Girona
It has turned into a pretty miserable final season at Real Sociedad for Imanol, but he should still get a decent send-off in what is his last home game at the helm. He won’t be able to call upon the services of the suspended Aihen Muñoz here, while Nayef Aguerd remains a major injury doubt. Some rotation is possible, with La Real no longer in realistic European contention.
Real Sociedad predicted lineup: Remiro – J. Lopez, Zubeldia, Martin, Aramburu – B. Mendiz, Zubimendi, Marin – Barrenetxea, Oyarzabal, Cubo (4-3-3)
Girona secured safety in midweek, with Cristhian Stuani again their hero with the only goal in Valladolid. Michel could go two ways now safety is secured – either by sticking with the experienced players who have dug his team out of a hole over the past few weeks, or by giving some of the younger players another chance to impress. He still has an injury doubt over Miguel Gutierrez, while Arnau Martinez has also been dealing with a fitness issue and may not be risked.
Girona predicted lineup: Gazzaniga-Blind, Krejci, Juanpe, Frances-Herrera, Martin, Arthur-Asprilla, Ruiz, Tsygankov (4-3-3)
19:00 – Sevilla vs Real Madrid
Sevilla secured their top-flight status for another season with a vital win over Las Palmas on Tuesday, with young striker Garcia Pascual their unlikely saviour. The 22-year-old could be rewarded with another start here, but there could be a change in defence given Kike Salas is an injury doubt. Major changes are not expected otherwise, although Nemanja Gudelj could be brought in to bulk up the midfield.
Sevilla predicted lineup: Nyland – Ramon, Bade, Juanl – Agoume – Lukebakio, Sow, Suso – Garcia Pascus (4-2-3-1)
There were 11 players missing for Real Madrid in midweek, but they still managed to grind out a victory over Mallorca in the end, with defender Jacobo Ramon scoring a 95th-minute winner. They’ll definitely be missing at least six again here, while Vinicius, Rodrygo, Lucas Vazquez and Brahim Diaz are doubts again, and may not be risked with little at stake now that Barcelona have clinched the title. Aurelien Tchouameni should return, either in central defence or midfield.
Real Madrid predicted lineup: Courtois-F. Garcia, Jacobo, Asencio, Valverde-Ceallos, Tchouameni-Mbappe, Bellingham, Guler-Endrick (4-2-3-1)
19:00 – Mallorca vs Getafe
Mallorca came very close to getting a point at the Bernabeu on Wednesday, largely thanks to another stellar performance from Leo Roman in goal. He may still be rotated out here though, while Pablo Maffeo, Johan Mojica, Dani Rodriguez and Omar Mascarell should also earn recalls from Jagoba Arrasate.
Mallorca predicted lineup: Greif – Mojica, Raillo,
Getafe are sinking fast and may yet need two points from their final two games to stay up, depending on the results of their South Madrid rivals Leganes. They’ll be missing Dakonam Djene to suspension once more in Mallorca, while Juanmi remains an injury doubt. Juan Bernat and Borja Mayoral are among the main options should Pepe Bordalas opt for changes.
Getafe predicted lineup: Soria-Rico, Duarte, Alderete, Iglesias-Bernat, Arambarri, Milla, Terrats-Uche-Mayoral (4-4-1-1)
19:00 – Valencia vs Athletic Club
Valencia should be at full strength for this game, with the exception of the injured Thierry Correia. They still have an outside chance of qualifying for Europe, despite losing in Vitoria on Wednesday, and Carlos Corberan is likely to go as strong as possible here. That should mean Dimitri Foulquier returns from injury at right-back, while Javi Guerra is also available again and should come into the midfield in place of Pepelu. Andre Almeida should also be fit and could replace Rafa Mir.
Valencia predicted lineup: Mamardashvili-Gaya, Mosquera, Tarrega, Foulquier-Guerra, Barrenechea-D. Lopez, Almeida, Rioja-Hard (4-2-3-1)
Athletic sealed a place in next season’s Champions League by beating Getafe 2-0 at the Coliseum on Thursday night. That’s likely to spark a fair amount of rotation from Ernesto Valverde here. He still has doubts over both Williams brothers and is unlikely to risk either unless they’ve fully recovered, given there is no longer much riding on this game from a visiting perspective.
Athletic Club predicted lineup: Simon-Boiro, Vivian, Walls, from Marcos-Paddas, Ruiz de Galarta-U. Gomez, Sannce, Berenguer-Sannadi (4-2-3-1)
19:00 – Atletico Madrid vs Real Betis
Atletico Madrid can no longer finish any higher than third place, and this is another opportunity for Diego Simeone to experiment to some extent should he want to do so. He may consider some changes in any case after a defeat in Pamplona. Pablo Barrios picked up a head injury in that game and may not feature here as a result. Samuel Lino, Antoine Griezmann, Nahuel Molina and Conor Gallagher are among the main options should he look to mix things up.
Atletico Madrid predicted lineup: Oblak – Oblak – The Norman, the Guide, the Molina – Lino, Coke, Paul, Lorente – Alvarez, Sorloth (4-4-2)
Betis have to win this game to stand any chance of staying in the race for Champions League football. We may still see Manuel Pellegrini persist with his rotation policy though given the fast turnaround after Thursday’s draw across the Spanish capital in Vallecas. That makes it unclear whether key players like Isco and Antony will both start, but the Chilean may decide one more roll of the dice with his star duo is worth it, given they don’t play this coming midweek. Some changes are still likely in midfield and at full-back.
Real Betis predicted lineup: Cardoso, Card – Rodriguez, Isco, Isco, Antony – C. Hernandez.
