
Bengaluru: The pre-monsoon rains have intensified across Karnataka, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting heavy rainfall in Bengaluru and 14 other districts on Saturday, May 17. A yellow alert has been issued for these areas, warning residents to stay cautious.
According to the IMD, heavy showers are likely to continue for the next four days in several districts, especially in Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Tumakuru, and Chitradurga, where continuous rainfall is expected until May 20.
In addition to Bengaluru, heavy rains are forecast for Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Bagalkote, Dharwad, Gadag, Koppal, Vijayapura, Chikkaballapur, Mandya, Ramanagara, and Tumakuru on Saturday.
Authorities have advised people to take necessary precautions, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas. Traffic disruptions and waterlogging are expected in some places due to the heavy downpour.
