Mount Kailash is located in Tibet, China, and is considered to be the main abode of Lord Shiva. Apart from Hinduism, people of Buddhist, Jain, and Bon religions also consider it sacred. It is located at an altitude of 6,638 meters and has sacred reservoirs like Mansarovar Lake and Rakshastal near it. According to Hindu beliefs, salvation can be achieved by just seeing Mount Kailash. Its circumambulation, called 'Kora', is 52 kilometers long and takes three days to complete. This journey is very difficult, as physical and mental preparation is necessary due to the altitude and harsh weather. Indians have to take a Chinese visa to visit Mount Kailash, which is like a big obstacle in completing this journey. No one can climb this mountain because it is considered sacred as the abode of Lord Shiva.

At the same time, Adi Kailash is also called Chota Kailash. It is located in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand state of India. It is at an altitude of 6,310 meters and is also considered the abode of Lord Shiva and Parvati. There are sacred places like Parvati Sarovar and Gauri Kund near Adi Kailash. Its journey is easier and more accessible than Mount Kailash, because it is in India itself and does not require a foreign visa. The journey to Adi Kailash starts from Dharchula, and trekking, road travel, and helicopter facilities are also available in some places. This journey is especially done between May and October, when the weather is favorable. Adi Kailash is considered very sacred by the people of the Rang community and they believe that it was the ancient abode of Lord Shiva.

The religious beliefs of both places are also different. Mount Kailash is considered the center of the world, while Adi Kailash is considered one of the Panch Kailash. The journey to Adi Kailash also includes a visit to Om Parvat, where the symbol of Om is naturally formed from the snow. The journey to Mount Kailash is more complex and longer, while the journey to Adi Kailash is shorter and calmer. Thus, both mountains are famous for their unique features and spiritual significance.
