The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the coaching staff for the India A team's upcoming tour of England.

Former Indian cricketer Hrishikesh Kanitkar has been appointed as the head coach. Joining him are Subhadeep Ghosh from Assam as the fielding coach and Troy Cooley as the bowling coach.

Typically, VVS Laxman, the head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA), has taken on coaching responsibilities for India A or in situations where the main team's head coach is unavailable. However, this time, Kanitkar has been given the role.

Who is Hrishikesh Hemant Kanitkar?

Hrishikesh Hemant Kanitkar, a left-handed batsman and a right-arm off-break bowler, is a former Indian cricketer who played briefly in Tests and ODIs. Upon his retirement in 2015, he was one of only three batsmen to have scored over 8,000 runs in the Ranji Trophy and the only captain in Ranji Trophy history to have won both the Elite and Plate league titles.

The 18-member India A team is expected to depart for England in batches on May 25 and 26. The first four-day match against England Lions will commence on May 30 in Canterbury.

Following this, the second four-day match will be held in Northampton starting June 6. After these matches, India A will play a practice match against the senior Indian team from June 13 to 16 in Beckenham, which will be a closed-door intra-squad game.

As of now, the BCCI has not announced the senior team for the England tour. Due to the rescheduling of IPL, there might be a delay in the announcement.
