Delhi-Dehradun Expressway Progress Update

Delhi-Dehradun Expressway: The eagerly anticipated Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is advancing swiftly. This 210-kilometer route, designed to significantly reduce travel time between the two cities, was recently inspected by Harsh Malhotra, the Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways. Accompanied by officials from the NHAI, he conducted a thorough review of the project. The Minister announced that the expressway is expected to be completed within three months, with 95% of the construction already finished. However, an official inauguration date has yet to be announced.

Harsh Malhotra acknowledged the significant progress made and highlighted that the expressway will play a crucial role in alleviating congestion in the National Capital Territory of Delhi, as well as easing traffic on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway and other connecting highways. He also addressed various issues raised by NHAI officials and urged them to accelerate the project, stressing the importance of making the expressway accessible to the public on time.

The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is being constructed at an estimated cost of ₹12,000 crore. A 32-kilometer segment, stretching from Akshardham Temple to Baghpat, has already been completed. This new Greenfield expressway will traverse through Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, connecting multiple regions.


Connection to Char Dham Highway Greenfield Expressway To Connect To Char Dham Highway

Designed for a speed limit of 100 km/h, the expressway aims to reduce the travel time from Delhi to Dehradun to just 2.5 hours. It is important for both tourists and residents to note that this road will also connect to the Char Dham Highway. Although the inauguration was previously delayed due to technical issues, the rapid progress of the remaining construction suggests that it may open in August.
