Israeli Airstrike Kills 24 In Gaza Amidst Ongoing Ceasefire Talks

At least 24 Palestinians were killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting a tent encampment housing displaced families in Khan Younis, located in the southern Gaza Strip, local health authorities reported on Sunday. The strike, which medics say also claimed the lives of women and children, left dozens wounded and set several tents ablaze.

The latest escalation comes as Israel significantly expanded its military offensive in the enclave, ramping up bombing that has reportedly killed hundreds of people over the past 72 hours. According to the Gaza Health Ministry, the intensified strikes have continued despite a recent visit by U.S. President Donald Trump to the region.

Hamas condemned the strike as a "new brutal crime" in a statement on Sunday, accusing the U.S. administration of being complicit in the ongoing escalation.

The Israeli military did not immediately comment on the most recent strikes, but in an earlier statement, it said it was conducting extensive operations across Gaza as part of its broader war objectives.

Meanwhile, Egypt and Qatar, with support from the United States, have launched a new round of indirect ceasefire talks between Israel and Hamas. Sources close to the negotiations, which are being held in the Qatari capital, Doha, told Reuters that no significant breakthroughs have been reported, with both sides remaining firmly committed to their respective positions.
