Now United States of Americas wicketkeeper batsman Smit Patel scored his first international century against Canada. Smit Patel scored this century while playing in the Cricket World Cup League 2 tournament. In the first match of the triangular series being played between USA Canada and Oman Smit completed his century in 110 balls against Canada. Along with him another batsman of Indian origin Milind also scored a record century in this match due to which USA registered its biggest win in ODI cricket. In the match being played in Lauderhill Florida USA USA captain Monank Patel won the toss and decided to bat first. Monank and Smit Patel together made a partnership of 78 runs for the second wicket. During this Monank batted aggressively and was dismissed after scoring 47 runs in 44 balls while Smit Patel kept on taking his innings forward slowly and completed his half-century in 69 balls. After this Smit Patel picked up the pace and scored the next 50 runs in just 41 balls and completed his first international century in 110 balls. Before this match he had played 12 ODIs and 2 T20I matches which included two half-centuries and a best innings of 70 runs. In the next 27 balls of his innings he added 52 more runs and finished the innings on an unbeaten 152 runs (137 balls) which is the third-highest individual score for America in ODIs. At the same time number-5 batsman Milind Kumar also batted explosively and scored an unbeaten 115 runs in 67 balls. There was a partnership of 208 runs between the two for the fourth wicket which is the second-highest partnership in ODIs for any wicket for America (just 1 run behind the record). Milinds century in 60 balls is the fastest century for USA in ODIs. Earlier the fastest century was held by Shayan Jahangir who scored 100 runs in 79 balls against Nepal in Harare in 2023. Milind also scored the joint second fastest ODI century by an Indian-origin batsman. While the record for the fastest ODI century by an Indian batsman is held by Virat Kohli who scored a century in just 52 balls against Australia in 2013 the second on the list is Virender Sehwag who scored a century in 60 balls against New Zealand in 2009. Talking about this match America batted first and scored 361 runs for the loss of 3 wickets thanks to the centuries of two batsmen in response to which Canada did not have a good start and was seen struggling at 104/5 after 28 overs. Mansab Gill scored an unbeaten 54 off 69 balls for Canada while wickets kept falling at the other end. Eventually the Canadian team was all out for 192 runs in 46.2 overs and the USA won by 169 runs. This is also the biggest win for the USA in ODI cricket. Many cricketers of Indian origin are currently part of American cricket. Apart from the captain of the American team Saurabh Netravalkar Monank Patel Smit Patel Milind Kumar who defeated Pakistan in the last T20 World Cup Harmeet Singh and Saitje Mukkamalla are among the players.
