About 20,000 individuals participated in France’s fervent and enthusiastic celebration of the Holi festival

Paris: According to information released by the Indian Embassy in France on Monday, around 20,000 individuals participated in the festival of Holi, which was celebrated with great zeal and excitement throughout France.

The Indian Embassy posted on X that the Global Indian Organization, France, a non-profit, social, and apolitical organization; the luxury goods conglomerate LVMH group, Marc-Antoine Jamet, the mayor and departmental councilor of Val-de-Reuil; and Jardin D’Acclimatation, Paris’s only amusement and leisure park, which opened in 1860, were responsible for organizing the Holi celebration.

According to Ambassador Sanjeev Singla, the celebration, which drew 20,000 attendees, emphasized the spirit of unity in diversity as well as the principles of liberty, equality, fraternity, and joie de vivre that are highly valued by the people of France and India.

There were over 20,000 individuals present for the event.

“The celebrations today highlighted the spirit of unity in diversity and the ideals of liberty, equality, fraternity & joie de vivre cherished deeply by the people of France and India,” Ambassador Sanjeev Singla said in his comments, according to the post on X.

For the Parisians to learn more about and understand the complexities of India, the event included a celebration of lively aspects of Indian culture.

Through a variety of dance and music performances, Henna painting, and the introduction of Indian and French cuisine, the Holi festivities fostered cultural ties between the two welcoming nations.

According to a previous statement from the Ministry of External Affairs, the Embassy of India in France hosts cultural events and activities all year long, including performers from France and India.

The MEA estimates that there are 119,000 Indians (including NRIs) living in mainland France. The majority of these people are from the states of Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and Punjab, as well as the former French colonies of Puducherry, Karaikal, Yanam, Mahe, and Chandernagore. The estimated populations of Indian descent in the French Overseas Territories are as follows: Guadeloupe (57,180), Martinique (8,090), Reunion Island (300,159), and Saint Martin (1,950). In France, there are more than fifty Indian community groups.

According to MEA, the foundation of the long-standing India-France alliance is based on strong economic, cultural, intellectual, and interpersonal links; respect for international law; shared democratic principles; and a conviction in multilateralism as a way to address global issues.
