
[India] Narainpur (Chhattisgarh) At the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama Stadium, Mizoram crushed Tripura 11-1 to secure their place in the quarterfinals of the Swami Vivekananda Men’s U20 National Football Championship from Group D. According to the All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) official website, Jharkhand beat Himachal Pradesh in the other group match.
With nine points from three games, Mizoram has an unstoppable advantage and is currently leading the group. Tripura and Maharashtra behind them by six points, but even if they overtake Mizoram, the northeastern team would lead due to a superior head-to-head record since they have already defeated both.
Mizoram defeated Tripura 11-1 with nine goals in the second half, securing their place in the round of eight. At halftime, Mizoram had a 2-1 lead.
Mesak Lalrinngheta (15′, 83′, 90′, 90+1′) and PC Pazawna (47′, 52′, 54′, 77′) each scored four goals for Mizoram, while Ngurthanmawia (31′) scored one and Michael Lalbiaksanga (60′, 63′) scored two. The sole goal for Tripura came from Sukha Dayal Jamatia (29′).
Jharkhand beat Himachal Pradesh, the lowest team, 2-1 earlier in the day. At halftime, the former had a 1-0 lead.
Jharkhand took the lead early on thanks to Chandra Mohan Soy (10′), but Aryan Thakur (53′) tied the score in the second half. However, parity was short-lived as the decisive goal was scored a few minutes later by Daksh Kumar Mahli (55′).
