Barbie Hsu’s children absent from father Wang Xiaofei’s wedding to 18-year-younger wife

Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei’s two children with the late Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu were absent from his wedding in Beijing, where he married Mandy Ma.

According to Znews, Taiwanese media reported that 11-year-old Wang Hsi Yueh and nine-year-old Wang Hsi Lin traveled to Taipei with their nanny ahead of the ceremony, held on Saturday, in an effort to shield them from public scrutiny. Sources said the nanny believed attending the wedding could subject the children to unnecessary pressure, particularly in light of their mother’s passing three months ago.

Wang had reportedly hoped his children would attend the wedding to witness the start of his new chapter. However, after discussions with family members and careful consideration—especially regarding the emotional impact of Hsu’s death—he ultimately decided against it.

Wang, 44, and Ma, 26, registered their marriage in May 2024. Reports suggest that Ma maintains a positive relationship with Wang’s children.

Wang was previously married to Hsu from 2011 until their divorce in 2021. Following the split, Hsu rekindled her romance with former boyfriend DJ Koo, a 55-year-old South Korean musician, and the two married in Feb. 2022.

Hsu, known for her iconic roles in hit dramas like “Meteor Garden,” “Mars,” and “Summer’s Desire,” passed away at age 49 in Japan due to pneumonia- complications, her family announced on Feb. 3.
