Reports of India being out of Asia Cup and other ACC tournaments
These things started when some reports were quoted by an unknown source of BCCI that India had decided to withdraw from the Women’s Emerging Asia Cup to be held in Sri Lanka and the Men Asia Cup in September 2025 next month. It was reported that the BCCI took this decision after a statement given by a Pakistan minister against the current leadership of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).
Some people say that this decision is part of the increasing tension between India and Pakistan and the strategy of isolating Pakistan cricket internationally. According to the report, the BCCI believes that the Indian team cannot participate in the tournament which is led by a Pakistani minister. It is believed that if India is removed, the Asia Cup sponsorship and TV revenue will have a major impact and the tournament may be in danger.
BCCI secretary responded on rumors
BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia has issued a clear statement on these rumors going on in the middle. He told the media that the BCCI has not taken any decision to withdraw from the Asia Cup or Women’s Emerging Team Asia Cup. Saikia told the Times of India, “There are reports coming from this morning that India will not play the Asia Cup, but there is no truth in them. The BCCI has neither discussed it nor written anything to the ACC.”
He further stated that at this time the BCCI’s entire focus is on the series of men and women’s teams against IPL and England. Saikia also said, “There has been no conversation about the Asia Cup or any ACC tournament, so the news coming on it is just rumors and fantasies.” However, there has been a long tension between India and Pakistan and both teams are face to face only in the multi-holding tournament. In such a situation, the situation regarding the future remains a bit uncertain.
