Singer Rahul Vaidya, who was recently in the headlines for his controversy with cricketer Virat Kohli, revealed that he turned down a Rs 50 lakh offer to perform at a wedding in Antalya, Turkey, scheduled for July 5, 2025. His decision came in response to Turkey's support for Pakistan amid the escalating India-Pakistan conflict.Speaking to ETimes, Rahul said, "The offer was lucrative — they were paying me Rs 50 lakh. But I told them that no work, no money, and no fame can surpass the interest of the country. They even offered me more, but I made it clear that it wasn’t about the money. This issue is far more important than that. It’s not about me as an individual; it’s about the nation. And we have to stand by our nation."Further, Rahul stated that he has no interest in visiting a country that is an enemy of India and disrespects it. Expressing gratitude, the singer said that whatever he is today is because of his country and fellow countrymen. "Anyone who goes against the interests of my country and countrymen will not be entertained," he added.Recently, actress Rupali Ganguly publicly called for a boycott of Turkey, urging fellow celebrities, influencers, and travellers to cancel their bookings to the country. Taking to her X (formerly Twitter), she wrote, "Can we please cancel our bookings for Turkey. This is my request to all Indian Celebs/Influencers/Travellers. This is the least we can do as Indians. #BoycottTurkey."Meanwhile, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA), representing workers, technicians, artists, and professionals of the Indian film industry, announced a complete ban on Turkey for all film shoots and cultural collaborations, citing the safety of Indian citizens and the nation's interests as their top priority.Turkish producers, production houses, artists, and other creative professionals have also been blacklisted and will no longer be permitted to work within the Indian entertainment industry.
