Mumbai: A violent clash took place between two families that killed three people and left four injured. The incident took place near Ram Naval Gupta’s coconut shop in the Ganpat Patil Nagar slum area under MHB police jurisdiction, around 4:30 pm on Sunday.
According to MHB police station officials, the feud dates back to 2022, when a dispute first arose between the Sheikh and Gupta families. Despite police intervention and registered cases, the bitterness between the two sides only intensified over time.
On the evening, Hamid Sheikh, reportedly intoxicated, confronted Naval Gupta near his shop, hurling abuses and provoking a heated argument. Both men then summoned their sons to the scene, setting the stage for a violent confrontation.
Naval Gupta called his three sons, Amar, Amit, and Arvind Gupta, while Hamid Nasiruddin Sheikh brought his sons Arman Hamid Sheikh and Hasan Hamid Sheikh. The dispute rapidly turned brutal, with both sides attacking each other with sharp weapons.
The altercation took the lives of Ram Naval Gupta and Arvind Gupta on the spot. Hamid Sheikh also succumbed to injuries sustained during the fight. Amar and Amit Gupta, along with Arman and Hasan Sheikh, were seriously wounded and rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident, with several family members questioned.
