To celebrate the recently approved stop of the Bandra–Bhuj Kutch Express, a long-distance train, a special event was held at the Palghar railway station. Senior railway officials, members from several commuter organizations, rail enthusiasts, local civic groups, and a large number of civilians attended the occasion, along with Palghar MP Dr. Hemant Savara.
Numerous conversations on safety issues, service gaps, and the everyday struggles commuters encounter took place throughout the event. Before the MP and railway authorities, the guests made a number of significant requests.
Currently, there is severe congestion, poor train service, and frequent delays for passengers traveling between Dahanu and Virar. To ease the burden of everyday commuters, commuter organizations are calling for the quick installation of 15-coach suburban trains along this route.
CCTV camera installation between Vaitarna and Dahanu
The Dahanu–Vaitarna route has been the subject of several safety issues. In order to improve safety, particularly for women and other passengers, commuters encouraged authorities to install CCTV cameras at stations and on platforms along this segment.
The Udhna–Bandra train has an unfair superfast surcharge.
Despite being categorized as a “replacement service,” the Udhna–Bandra train nonetheless charges a superfast fee even though its average speed is barely 43 km/h. Commuters urged that this fee be immediately withdrawn, calling it unreasonable.
Cutting down on the amount of time between suburban services
The absence of sufficient and punctual local rail services between Dahanu and Churchgate was brought to the attention of commuters. To guarantee easier travel, they encouraged authorities to add additional trains and shorten the time between current services.
CCTV in coaches for ladies
There was a significant push to install specialized CCTV cameras inside women’s compartments on all suburban trains in the area in order to improve the security of female passengers.
In a positive conversation with passenger representatives at the event, MP Dr. Hemant Savara assured them that all of their requests had been taken into consideration and that the required follow-up will be started at the proper administrative levels. Additionally, senior railway officials in attendance attested that the concerns presented will be referred to the appropriate authorities for review.
Social workers, local residents, train lovers, and passenger groups all actively participated in the initiative. Many participants said that this was a big step in the direction of the long-needed enhancement of Palghar district’s railway services.
