According to news agency ANI, authorities stated Monday that two terror suspects, one of whom was from Hyderabad, were captured in a combined Telangana and Andhra Pradesh police operation because they were reportedly preparing to carry out bombings.

According to ANI, the suspects, Siraj Ur Rehman, a resident of Vizianagaram, and Syed Sameer, a 27-year-old lift mechanic from Bhoiguda in Secunderabad, were reportedly preparing to test explosive devices as part of a broader plot to carry out bomb attacks.

The police claim that Sameer helped Siraj advance their scheme to engage in subversive actions, while Siraj was the main plot designer. According to ANI, Siraj had purchased explosive precursors and other bomb-making supplies from a number of e-commerce sites.

The two were brought before the local district court by the Vizianagaram Town-II police, and they were placed under two weeks of judicial detention. According to news agency ANI, an official further said that they were charged with terrorist planning and threatening public order under many provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Range of Visakhapatnam According to news agency ANI, Gopinath Jetty, the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), verified over the phone that the people who were detained had linkages to terrorist activities.

It is anticipated that counterintelligence officers would ask the court to have the accused placed under police custody so that more questioning and evidence gathering may take place.

Andhra Pradesh Health Minister and BJP leader Satya Kumar Yadav commented on the arrests, saying, “Over the years, I have received several allegations of terrorist operations and sleeper groups. The BJP has been aware for some days that terrorist sleeper cells are active in the Hyderabad region as well as in other parts of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, according to ANI.
