Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis chaired an important state cabinet meeting on Tuesday at the ministry’s cabinet hall. The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, along with other senior ministers. Several major policy decisions were approved, aimed at infrastructure development, judicial strengthening, and housing reform.
A highlight of the meeting was the announcement of the state’s new housing policy under the motto “My House – My Rights.” This ambitious plan includes a massive investment of Rs 70,000 crore covering slum rehabilitation, housing redevelopment, and the construction of affordable housing.
The policy aims to benefit low-income groups, women, senior citizens, industrial workers, and students by prioritising their specific housing needs. Under the Urban Development Department, the cabinet approved the allocation of land in Deonar to Mahanagar Gas Limited at a concessional rate. This will be used for a compressed biogas project utilizing biomethanation technology.
The Industry, Energy, Labour, and Mines Department received approvals for long-pending industrial proposals. In a step towards enhancing the state’s judicial infrastructure, the Law and Justice Department greenlit the establishment of a senior civil court at Karanja in Washim district. The move includes the sanctioning of 28 new posts and a budget of Rs 1.76 crore.

Approval has been granted for the revised project cost of Rs 5,329.46 crore for the Sulwade Jamphal Kanoli Upsa Irrigation Scheme located in Shindkheda Taluka, Dhule District. The project is expected to create an irrigation potential of 52,720 hectares.
Water Resources Department
Approval has been given for the revised cost of Rs 2,025.64 crore for the irrigation project at Mouje Het, in Vaibhavwadi Taluka, Sindhudurg District, under the Aruna Medium Project. This initiative will provide irrigation to 5,310 hectares of land.
Administrative approval has also been provided for the Poshir Project in Karjat Taluka, Raigad District, with a sanctioned cost of Rs 6,394.13 crore. Additionally, the Shilar Project, also located in Karjat Taluka, Raigad District, has received administrative approval for Rs 4,869.72 crore.
The cabinet meeting concluded with a strong emphasis on accelerating the implementation of these approved projects to boost economic development and improve the standard of living for citizens across Maharashtra.
